Have you ever heard of the slave ship and his dad will grab a copy of ‘Black Odyssey - The Case of the Slave Ship Amistad’ by Mary Gable, and join us for a great discussion of the book. The book provides a detailed and carefully researched account of the events surrounding the Amistad. In 1839 enslaved African led by Sengbe Pieh ( Cinque ), mutinied on the Spanish schooner Amistad while being transported illegally from Havana to another Cuban plantation.

The ship was eventually seized by the U.S. navy off the coast of Long Island, New York, leading to a comlex series of court cases.
